About Me

My photo
Dexter, Oregon, United States
I am a self-employed knitter/designer and photographer. I strive to write unique designs inspired by nature, folklore, magic, Fairies and Elves, and I find a lot of inspiration from symbolism and traditions in cultures throughout history. I also love to photograph nature on an intimate level. As a Master Gardener I raise garden starts each spring to sell locally, and I am also a musician in the band Zayante. You can find me on Ravelry as Peargirl and our band Zayante can be found on Soundcloud..

Bells of Orion

Bells of Orion is a gift for my grandson Orion who is turning 2. I wanted to knit him something fun and decided on knitted anklets to put a jingle in his step. I chose dk-weight yarn and medium-sized bells so as not to be too heavy on his small ankles. The pattern includes clear instructions for multi-sizing. I can't wait to see and hear him running around in these. Find the pattern here...

Easy Top-Down Poncho/Capelet

I designed this poncho for my early morning walks with a nice big turtle-neck to keep me warm, but easy to take off as I heat up from the walk. I'm a big fan of layers that you can peel off if needed.

 "Magical Forest"
A Magical Forest is home to Elementals such as Elves, Fairies, Gnomes and Devas. The ecosystem of the forest is a beautifully complex collection of life forms working in harmony with one another. I used Malabrigo Mecha for the trees for a thicker tree to support the weight of the buttons and went up to a #8 needle. Quick and easy to knit for gift giving, and a wonderful way to use up beautiful buttons in your collection. Find the pattern here: "Magical Forest"

Anna's Rainbows

My mother Anna passed away in 2002. She loved crystals so I decided to crochet this to hang in my bedroom window to project rainbows onto the walls, floor and ceiling. I think she would be happy to see the crystals catching the light and illuminating the room with color. I think of her with every rainbow I see.

A New Sweater for our outdoor faucet...

Our faucet is wrapped in insulation and not so great to look at, so here is the new sweater I just finished. They stand up to the elements for around 5 years, this is the third one I've knit, using only leftover yarn from past projects. I've named this project "Faucetious".
